Hermès has an unrivaled color spectrum. Even its selection of neutrals is Pantone-worthy, with more shades added each year, so you’ll always be able to find the best Hermès grey for you. In 2022, Gris Meyer was one of the shades added to the collection. This rich grey tone is similar to Etain, but with warm yellow undertones. And if Gris Meyer doesn’t spark joy, Hermès greys encompass a vast spectrum from off-whites to almost black, greige tones, and everything in between.
Although there is a huge selection to shop, a handful of Hermès greys stand out as being some of the most coveted. Here's what you need to know about these popular shades.
Gris Meyer Gris Meye is the newest Hermès grey, introduced in 2022. It's similar to Etain but lighter and with warmer yellow undertones.
Etoupe Etoupe is one of Hermès' bestselling neutrals, along with Black and Gold. Although it’s not classed as a grey, it certainly qualifies as greige at the very least, so has an honorable mention in this list. The reason for its popularity is clear: it’s a timeless and versatile shade that can be worn every day with anything.
Etain Etain is Hermès best-selling grey. It was first introduced in the Autumn/ Winter 2011 collection and has only grown in popularity since then. It’s a medium tone grey often referred to as Hermès’ signature grey.
Gris Mouette Gris Mouette follows hot on the heels of Etain in popularity. It has a clean, steely finish with blue undertones.
Gris Perle Gris Perle is another very popular grey tone. Understated and sophisticated, this very elegant off-white color is a highly sought-after Hermès grey.
Gris Asphalt If you like the Etoupe aesthetic but want more of the grey than the tan beige, Gris Asphalt might be a great fit for you.
Gris Tourterelle This grey is more tan-forward than most but still has dusty grey tones. This combination makes it a really easy neutral to pair with just about anything.
Craie This off-white tone has a chalky greyness to it, making it more wearable than pure white. It’s very similar to Nata, though Nata has warmer, vanilla yellow undertones.
