Kelly A Cheval: Kelly Au Pas, Au Trot and Au Galop

A Quick Canter Through an Equestrian-Inspired Collection

Hermès has strong equestrian roots. It began as a saddle and harness maker before expanding and refocusing on handbags. In honor of this heritage, it released three special edition designs, collectively known as the Kelly A Cheval, as part of the Fall Winter Collection 2017.

The Kelly Au Pas, Kelly Au Trot and Kelly Au Galop are inspired by the three paces of a horse: the step, the trot and the gallop, which are interpreted in patterns on the bag’s handle. These handles purportedly take four times longer than the usual handle to make.

Kelly Au Pas

The pattern on the Kelly Au Pas mimics the step. It features a single arching strip of Chèvre Mysore on Box Calf leather base. This subtle design reflects the softness of the pace.

Kelly Au Trot

The Kelly Au Trot pattern draws on the trot for inspiration. This Kelly bag has a striped design across the handle, almost imitating the steady rhythm of the pace.

Kelly Au Galop

The Kelly Au Galop is inspired by the gallop, the fastest pace in equestrian sports. To capture this exhilarating speed, this Kelly bag features a handle zigzagged with Chèvre Mysore leather and Box calfskin.
